The first project of my Master’s degree was known as the DE Nucleus of the Digital Effects course at Bournemouth University. The goal of the project was to take a dry backplate and turn it into a wet aquascape while also incorporating a 3D object. This was done using basic techniques on Houdini and Nuke and matching all elements by eye.
Underwater particles & bubbles were shot in a cloud tank and were superimposed over the footage.
The backplate is an alleyway of a house and the artefact chosen is a Khol (Indian Musical Instrument).
Key skills learnt to include procedural modelling, camera matching, texturing in Houdini, colour grading, compositing in Nuke and Concept art in Photoshop.
